ACBR North

ETACITE™ Glideways

A proprietary family of low-friction, light-coloured, UV-stabilized polymer systems for portages and difficult surface transitions.

A surface system for obstacle bypasses

ETACITE is the working tradename for ACBR North’s proposed polymer glideway materials. Depending on location and load, elements may be solid or incorporate closed-cell, air-filled structures.

The surface concept is very light blue, highly solar-reflective and ultraviolet-stabilized. The objective is to reduce summer solar heating compared with dark surfaces and limit heat transfer into temperature-sensitive ground.

Proposed functions

• Low-friction hovercraft travel
• Portage around rapids and falls
• Shore and ice transitions
• Modular replacement and repair
• Reduced ground pressure
• Seasonal surface protection

Development questions

Thermal behaviour

Measure surface temperature, heat transfer and effects on peat, soil and permafrost under different colours and assemblies.

Structural performance

Test creep, impact, fatigue, joint strength, flotation, anchoring and performance under repeated vehicle loads.

Friction and control

Balance low drag with braking, steering, crosswind stability and safe wet, icy or contaminated conditions.

Environmental lifecycle

Assess abrasion, particle release, recoverability, repair, recycling, fire behaviour and long-term exposure.

Installation

Compare modular panels, flexible sheets, elevated sections, floating sections and seasonal or removable deployments.

Monitoring

Embed temperature, movement, load and condition sensors where useful for research and maintenance.

ETACITE™ is presented here as a project tradename. Trademark registration status and final material formulations require separate legal and technical work.
