Hydrography, terrain, rapids and falls, elevation profiles, seasonal water and ice conditions, portage candidates and community nodes.

Lift and thrust efficiency, cold-weather reliability, skirt behaviour, control, braking, spray, noise and transition safety.

Materials science

ETACITE formulations, UV resistance, friction, wear, structural life, flotation, recycling and thermal effects.

Environmental assessment

Peatlands, permafrost, hydrology, fish and wildlife, noise, emissions, construction disturbance and cumulative effects.

Socio-economic research

Freight needs, affordability, governance, ownership, employment, training, health and emergency-response benefits.

Standards and regulation

Transport classification, passenger and freight requirements, occupational safety, environmental approvals and operating standards.

Potential research partners

The project’s long-term strategy includes pursuing collaboration with the National Research Council Canada for aerodynamic and aeroacoustic testing, materials validation and prototype research, including collaborative funding opportunities where appropriate. Universities, colleges, Indigenous technical organizations, hovercraft manufacturers, polymer suppliers, engineering firms and government laboratories may also participate.

Publication approach

Non-proprietary results should be documented clearly and, where practical, made available to communities and partners. Proprietary formulations or patentable elements can be managed separately without withholding safety-critical findings.

Research standard: distinguish verified evidence, analysis, assumptions and recommendations. Unsupported numbers should not be presented as facts.
